66 year-old Lars Lilholt is a songwriter, singer, guitarist and violinist and one of Denmark’s most popular and hard-working musicians. Inspired by traditional folk music, rock, world and pop, Lars Lilholt has created his own musical universe, one that has won a place in countless Danish hearts and homes. The Lars Lilholt story in numbers: he has made 35 albums (with his band, solo, with Dalton and diverse folk music combos), sold around 2.5 million albums, written about 300 songs, played 3000 concerts, won five Danish Music Awards and had his best-known song, Kald det kærlighed (Call It Love) included in the Danish Ministry of Culture’s canon. A founder member in 1973 of the folk rock group Kræn Bysted’s, Lars Lilholt had his own band by 1983, and it was here, in Lars Lilholt Band, he made his mark both as songwriter and frontman. Lars Lilholt Band has been among Denmark’s most popular live bands for over four decades. Lars Lilholt is also known for his work with Johnny Madsen and Allan Olsen in the Dalton trio, as well as touring as a solo musician and storyteller.
