Some of Denmark’s finest singers and musicians interpret Leonard Cohen’s songs in a tribute concert to the Canadian songwriter and poet who died in November 2016, aged 82. Just a few weeks previously, Leonard Cohen had released the album You Want It Darker. In the autumn of 2019 came a posthumous album, Thanks for the Dance. Leonard Cohen has bequeathed us an inheritance of songs of incomparable quality. Many of his songs have gained the status of classics, recorded and performed by singers and musicians throughout the world. This Danish tribute concert, sung in English, was first aired in February 2017 and has since traversed the country several times, most recently a January 2020 tour for packed houses. Now, Tønder Festival’s audience has the opportunity to enjoy this special tribute concert, and this will be their final show. Soloists are: Signe Svendsen, Sara Indrio, Bjørn Fjæstad, Steen Jørgensen, Mike Andersen and Claus Hempler. The band on stage are all Tønder Festival veterans: Palle Hjorth, keyboards; Lars Skjærbæk, guitar, vocal; Troels Skjærbæk, bass, vocal; and Mads Andersen, drums.
