Michael McGoldrick has often performed at Tønder Festival, most recently in 2018 with John Doyle and John McCusker. This time it is something different that brings him: a celebration of the rerelease of the 2000 album Fused. That recording as greeted with exceptionally fine reviews when it appeared 20 years ago. It was called masterpiece, with Michael McGoldrick mixing traditional folk music with trance, jazz and world music with a sure hand. The band for the anniversary concert, besides Michael McGoldrick, numbers Donald Shaw of Capercaillie on accordion, Dezi Donelly, violin; John Joe Kelly, bodhrán; Parvinder Bharat, tabla, and Neil Yates, trumpet and tin whistle. Michael McGoldrick is a multi-instrumentalist: he plays flute, tin whistle, uilleann pipes, bodhrán, guitar and cittern, and moreover is a composer and producer. Born in Manchester in 1971, he started Flook and has played with Lúnasa, Kate Rusby, Tim O’Brien and Mark Knopfler. Their only Danish festival concert in 2020.
