Ryan Bingham (USA)

Here comes an outstanding purveyor of americana: honoured several times for his pre-eminent songwriting, American Ryan Bingham (born in 1981) is placed high in the ranks of recognised songwriters. He is particularly well-known for his song The Weary Kind which features in the 2009 film Crazy Heart with Jeff Bridges in the leading role, and Ryan Bingham also appears. The song won three awards, a Grammy, a Golden Globe and an Oscar. Previously, Ryan Bingham had released two critically acclaimed albums, Mescalito in 2007 and Roadhouse Sun in 2009. Ryan Bingham collaborated on the film Crazy Heart with the ace producer T Bone Burnett, who went on to produce the subsequent album. Ryan Bingham’s most recent album, his sixth, is American Love Song from the spring of 2019, produced by the Dylan guitarist Charlie Sexton. This album contains songs dealing with the political situation in USA, and Ryan Bingham’s childhood in the New Mexico border country is an influence, too. Ryan Bingham played in Copenhagen in the summer of 2019. At Tønder Festival he is playing solo, and it is his only Danish festival concert in 2020.
