Elephant Sessions (SCO)

The Scottish band Elephant Sessions have been at Tønder Festival several times, playing their original style of Scots music. Rolling Stone Magazine wrote about Elephant Sessions, “These Scots use their instruments as weapons to destroy clichés. We love them.” Elephant Sessions mix traditional folk, funk, electronica and much more into a potent neo-folk cocktail, that has won over audiences in UK, Europe and Australia. Euan Smillie on fiddle and Alasdair Taylor on mandolin bear the muscular tunes, while Seth Tinsley on bass and synth and Greg Barry on drums and various samples underpin a fluent amalgam that never fails to excite. Their debut album The Elusive Highland Beauty appeared in 2014, and since then things have only been looking up for the band. They won BBC’s Scots Trad Music Award in 2017 and in 2022 in the Album of the Year category and in 2018 for Live Act of the Year, not to mention several other nominations. Their latest album is For The Night from 2022, which topped the British Folk Album Charts. Their only Danish festival concert in 2024.
