The four women in Høst have found the shared vision that is to create a vocal playground, where with four voices and nothing else, they interpret and challenge the traditions of Nordic folk music as well as in modern polyphonic singing. With inspiration from Nordic instrumental folk, Bulgarian women’s choir and the harmonic universe of jazz, Høst creates a new sound of Nordic acapella folk; a spring symphony of chirping birds, powerful raw dissonances and rhythmic poetry. Høst is a new vocal counterpoint to the Danish folk music scene. The quartet’s four members Lene Høst, Liv Vester, Maja Freese and Filippa Westerberg are already well versed in the genre as both singers and instrumentalists.
