Leftover Salmon (USA)

Bluegrass, country, oldtime and cajun. These are a few of the favourite things of the band Leftover Salmon from Boulder, Colorado. Around for more than 30 years, they began as a progressive jam band playing mainly bluegrass music, and developed into an institution on the American folk-roots scene. If you care to know more about the wide American folk music tradition, then a Leftover Salmon concert will give you more than an inkling. In their own words, the trip starts in the Appalachians with oldtime and bluegrass, a turn round New Orleans for some hot cajun music, up to country music mecca The Ryman in Nashville and home by the Colorado mountains. Centrally placed in Leftover Salmon are guitarist and singer Vince Herman, guitar and vocal, and Drew Emmitt, mandolin, guitar, violin and vocal. The band’s sound is carried by acoustic instruments, given a lift by a rhythm group of bass and drums. Leftover Salmon have made 11 albums, the most recent being Brand New Good Old Days (2021). This is the band’s first visit to Europe and their only Danish festival appearance in 2023.
