Mikael K has been the singer and songwriter in the band Klondyke for 20 years. Mikael Ryberg Kristensen (born in 1964) began in the Aalborg band Boobs in the 80s, and his songwriter career took off with Klondyke in 2002, when they released their debut album Guld (Gold). Since then, he has made six Danish language albums to critical acclaim. In recent years, Mikael K has performed solo, a storytelling singer/songwriter giving hundreds of concerts throughout the land. At Tønder Festival 2022, Mikael K has reunited his band. 2022 sees the release of two new albums, one with new songs: STILLE URO i en moden mands baghave (Quiet Fuss in a Grown Man’s Garden) and the songwriter’s ‘greatest hits’ in stripped-down versions on the album SKELETTER FRA SKABET – Klondyke sangbog volume 1 (Skeletons from the Cupboard – the Klondyke Songbook Vol.1.) Mikael K plays many roles – musician, composer, author, journalist and tv host – but first of all he is a modern troubadour. Mikael K has won Radio Denmark’s P4-award, the Bjørn Afzelius prize, the Gelsted-Kirk-Scherfig prize, as well as the Danish Music Award – Folk as Songwriter of the Year. Mikael K will also play a DJ set at Tønder Festival 2022.
