When brother and sister Sara and Sean Watkins, with mandolinist Chris Thile, formed the band Nickel Creek, it marked the start of a long and successful career for some of the top talents in American folk music. In 2007, Nickel Creek called it a day, and Sean and Sara set off on new roads. Besides their solo careers, Sean formed a duo, Fiction Family, with guitarist Jon Foreman, and Sara played violin for The Decemberists and John Mayer, among others. In 2018, she joined up with Aoife O’Donovan (of Crooked Still) and Sarah Jarosz in the trio I’m With Her. She also occasionally met up with her brother at the Largo Club in Los Angeles, where they appeared as the Watkins Family Hour, inviting other musicians up on stage. In 2015, they put out an album, Watkins Family Hour, with covers of Dylan’s Going, Going, Gone and Grateful Dead’s Brokedown Palace. In April 2020 they released the album Brother Sister whereon Sara and Sean have written all the songs. Their only Danish festival concert in 2021.
