The special afternoon concerts, Women’s Circle and Gentlemen’s Circle, have been extremely popular over the years. This year, too, both shows are on the programme. Women’s Circle has four female songwriters, all from USA: Margo Cilker delighted Tønder Festival audiences last year, and returns this year. Linda Lee Stockley and Montana Hobbs are the duo The Local Honeys from Kentucky and this is their first Tønder Festival. That’s true for songwriter Lizzy Ross, too; she is half of the duo Violet Bell. Songwriter’s Circle has long formed an important part of Tønder Festival’s identity, giving space for those unexpected concert moments when songwriters from near and far meet on stage, swap leading roles, join in on each others’ songs and spin a fine yarn or two.
