In 2022, Tønder Festival became a cashless festival.
This means that to pay at the festival’s sales points, festivalgoers can exclusively use a bank or credit card or MobilePay, not cash.
We have chosen to become a cashless festival because electronic payment via terminals makes it quicker and easier for our guests to trade at Tønder Festival’s shops, bars and restaurants etc, so they can spend more time enjoying the music. It also saves our volunteers from handling coins and notes. Security on the cashless Festival Site is also increased.
All the most common cards can be used for your payments: Dankort, VISA/Dankort, Mastercard, and Maestro, as well as Apple pay, Google pay etc. MobilePay can also be used.
Although Tønder Festival is now cashless, you can still bring your notes and coins to the festival. It just involves a visit to the payments counter on the Festival Site.
Here, you can pay your desired amount of cash into a Tønder Festival payment card. This card can then be used as currency at all Tønder Festival sales points, at the Campsite Grocer’s and the Ticket Counters. You’ll find the payment counter in its wagon on the Festival Site, by the South Gate leading to the Campsite.
If you prefer to pay with the Tønder Festival payment card instead of your bank or credit card, the staff at the payment counter will help you transfer money from your bank or credit card to your Tønder Festival payment card.
Should you not spend all the money on your Tønder Festival payment card, the payment counter staff will help you repay the rest to your bank or credit card.
The payment counter is open:
24th August 2023 from noon until 10:30 pm.
25th August 2023 from 10 am until midnight.
26th August 2023 from 10 am until midnight.
27th August 2023 from10 am until 10:30 pm.
And from 9 am until noon on Monday 28th August 2023 after the festival ends.
The minimum amount you can repay to your credit card is 10 DKK.
You can choose NOT to transfer any remaining money back from your Tønder Festival payment card, thereby making a donation to support Tønder Festival.
No transfers will be made after Monday 28th August 2023.
