Tønder Festival has added more new names to the programme: rising new American songwriters and bands, a Swedish star, power folk from Orkney and British veterans with a 40 year history.
The Tønder Festival audience has a lot to look forward to in August next year, when the festival will do what it does best: presenting a mix of interesting new names rising on the international scene and familiar musical gems.
Good news from USA
There are six new names booked for the Tønder Festival in 2018. American David Ramirez is a scoop – a powerful voice and a reputation already established. The same is true of Luke Winslow-King from New Orleans: he is a musical product of blues, jazz and rustic roots. From the north-east of USA we have the band Darlingside, who also guested Tønder Festival in 2017.
An Anniversary and a Top Name from Sweden
Oysterband turn 40 next year, which, naturally, they will be celebrating at Tønder Festival. From Orkney we have eight-piece band The Chair, who played here in 2016. And one of the most popular singers in Sweden, Melissa Horn. All six are playing their only 2018 Danish festival concerts at Tønder Festival.
