Six new international names – among them current favourite American singer Tyler Childers and a Danish veteran – expand the roster for Tønder Festival 2018. There is also news about events preceding the festival start.

There’s a whole lotta booking going on for next year’s Tønder Festival. As always, there are surprises: exciting new faces like American Tyler Childers, who has taken Nashville, indeed all of USA, by storm, and whose latest album was produced by Sturgill Simpson, who sang at Tønder Festival in 2015.

Also from USA we have two duos delivering American roots music: The Brother Brothers from Brooklyn and Caamp from Ohio. Canada is home to the sparkly Gordie MacKeeman and His Rhythm Boys and to Irish-born songwriter Irish Mythen. British Sam Kelly & The Lost Boys, who performed at Tønder Festival this year, will return in 2018, and there is a Danish star on the programme, to wit Anne Linnet.

Entertainment prior to Tønder Festival
Next year again Tønder will be a-buzz with events and activities in the days up to Tønder Festival, when 4+ unfolds between 19th and 22nd August 2018. The first plans are already in place. On Sunday 19 August, festivalgoers can see Sort Sol (Black Sun), the breathtaking sight of murmurations of starlings swirling in the sky. On Monday 20 August, Sort (Black) Safari sets out to the north and south of the Dano-German border, guiding guests through Wadden Sea nature, bird life and tales of dyke wardens, storm surges and regicide. Tickets for these two events will be on sale from 5 December via tf.dk

Colter Wall at Vega in Copenhagen
In a new initiative, Tønder Festival will hit the capital. The occasion is a concert at Lille Vega on Saturday 27 January 2018 with Colter Wall from Canada. 22 year-old Colter Wall is extremely popular right now on the international scene, and Rolling Stone magazine included Colter Wall in their 2016 list of “Ten new country singers, you have to know.” Colter Wall was first in Denmark at the 2017 Tønder Festival. Gift Idea of the Year
Ticket sales for Tønder Festival 2018 are barrelling along. A wristband for Tønder Festival 2018 – a gift of four days of world-class music and a memorable festival experience – would make anyone’s Xmas. Take a look at ticket sales on tf.dk
