Skolekoncert
Since her breakthrough in 2019, 26-year-old Danish rapper Tessa has established herself as one of Denmark’s most popular hip-hop artists.
She was only 21 years old when she defied social heritage and a heavy personal history of bullying, abuse, and homelessness. At that time, she had moved back to her childhood neighborhood Askerød, where she worked as a cleaner and nurtured her great passion for rap music.
When she posted a lip-sync video on Instagram featuring a song by her biggest idol, rap star Nicki Minaj, things took off. The video caught the attention of rapper and producer Jesper ‘Livid’ Helles, who was behind the ‘Urban Grrls’ project aimed at promoting young female rap talents.
That same year, Tessa played her first official concert on the Uprising stage at Roskilde Festival and released the single ‘Snakker for meget’ (‘Talk Too Much’), followed by hits like ‘Okay’ and ‘Ben’. Less than a year later, she received the ‘New Artist of the Year’ award at the Danish Music Awards.
Her debut album Tessas hævn (Tessa’s Revenge, 2023) was met with enthusiasm, with particular attention given to the song ‘Engletårer’ (‘Angel Tears’), a powerful autobiographical track about abuse and rape.
Tessa is known for her honest approach to music and performance, her raw and direct language, and for challenging traditional gender roles, sexuality, and social norms.
With her intense and engaging stage presence, she conveys both strength and vulnerability—qualities that have cemented her position as one of Denmark’s most exciting live performers.
Tessa performs with her band, and the school concert is her only appearance during the festival.
The school concert takes place on the Open Air stage on Thursday, August 28, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
Note: No alcohol will be served in the Open Air area during the school concert.
The school concert is exclusively for registered schools (students from grade 7 and up) and audience members who already have a valid ticket for Tønder Festival.
