Rodney Crowell (USA)

Tønder Festival proudly presents one of the big guns of country music, Rodney Crowell. At 73, he has been making his mark on American music for decades. He has topped the charts many times, and won long lists of awards and nominations, among them two Grammy Awards and six Americana Awards. In 2017, Rodney Crowell won the prestigious ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers)Founder’s Award. And he is a member of the Nashville Songwriters' Hall of Fame. As a songwriter, Rodney Crowell is among the giants: Emmylou Harris, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Keith Urban and Bob Seger are among those who have recorded his songs. A couple of his well-known songs are It’s Such A Small World, where he sings in duet with Rosanne Cash, with whom he has been married, and Even Cowgirls Get The Blues. Rodney Crowell began his career among the Nashville songwriters of the 70s, along with Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt and others. Those two inspired Rodney Crowell, whose songs feature the classic elements of American songwriting. His latest album The Chicago Sessions (2023) was produced by Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy. Crowell's only Danish festival in 2024.
