Sivert Høyem (NO)

Sivert Høyem is known as the front man in the band Madrugada, and he has a solo career alongside. Songwriter and singer Sivert Høyem's deep, sonorous voice is central to both Madrugada's alternative rock with its tones of folk and country, and his own solo projects. Since his 2004 album Ladies and Gentlemen of the Opposition, Sivert Høyem has released a number of solo albums and toured with his own band. Now, a new album is ready: On An Island (January 2024). This was recorded in Nyksund, a picturesque fishing village on the Vesterålen islands north of Lofoten. This untouched natural gem is a magnet for creative souls. The landscape and living conditions here have influenced the reflective, darker atmosphere permeating the music. The Norwegian newspaper Norske Aftenposten calls Sivert Høyem “one of the finest voices in the country”, and the web magazine musicknyheter.no places Høyem's song The Rust fifth among the 20 best Norwegian songs of 2023. Tønder Festival's audience heard Sivert Høyem in 2022, when Madrugada played on the Open Air Stage. The band broke up in 2008 after guitarist Robert Burås’ tragic death, but reformed in 2018. Sivert Høyem will be appearing with his own band at Tønder Festival, and this is his only Danish festival in 2024.
