The McCrary Sisters (USA)

A singing group from the top drawer of American gospel music, the McCrary Sisters from Nashville, TE are an institution in and distinguished representatives of the gospel vocal tradition. They are not limited by the gospel label, however, and spice up their songs liberally with blues, soul, rock and americana. This is American music of a high carat, and voices that will have the Tønder Festival tent canvas billowing. The McCrary Sisters were known as a quartet, but in June 2022, one sister, Deborah McCrary, died. The group continued as a trio with the three sisters, Ann, Regina and Alfreda McCrary. Music and song have surrounded the sisters all their lives. Their father, Samuel McCrary, a Baptist minister, helped found the legendary gospel group The Fairfield Four. They have recorded and performed as the McCrary Sisters since 2010, and through the years have appeared with such artists as Delbert McClinton, the Black Keys, Rosanne Cash, Carrie Underwood, Sheryl Crow and Dr. John. Their most recent releases are the singles Shake It Off and Run (2022). Their only Danish festival in 2024.
