Minority Language Circle - music on the terms of minority languages
The festival's newest circle format shines a light on the languages and cultures that live at the edges of the great national narratives.
There is something truly special about hearing music in a language you do not understand, yet which speaks directly to the heart.
The Minority Language Circle was one of last year’s biggest audience favourites, and on Thursday, 27 August at 12:30 PM,1. it is once again time to experience the intensity and beauty of minority languages, carried by artists determined not to let them disappear.
Look forward to Beinir (FO), Lea Kampmann (FO/DK), Luna Ersahin (DK), Sam Kelly (UK) and Ríoghnach Connolly (IRL) together on stage in a semi-circle. Taking turns, they will perform songs in languages that rarely take centre stage: Faroese, Kurdish, Gaelic and Cornish, while sharing the stories behind them.
The Minority Language Circle is supported by the Danish Ministry of Culture and the Office for Minority Music.
