Nive Nielsen & The Deer Children (GRL)

Nive is an Inuk singer and songwriter

Warm storytelling and Arctic mysticism meet Americana folk in the magical universe that Nive & the Deer Children have named Inuit indie.

It all began with Nive Nielsen’s very first concert for Queen Margrethe II, broadcast live on national television. Since then, a great deal has happened: in 2012 she released her debut album ‘Nive Sings’, created in collaboration with legendary producer John Parish (PJ Harvey, Tracy Chapman, among others). She has toured extensively across the United States and Canada, won awards in both Denmark and the U.S., appeared in the Ridley Scott series The Terror, acted in a Hollywood film alongside Colin Farrell (The New World), and performed with indie icons such as The Black Keys and Howe Gelb. At the same time, she has written songs about love, reindeer, and forgetting to make coffee.

Nive is an Inuk singer and songwriter, and together with her band The Deer Children, and a small red ukulele in hand, she creates music where Inuit folk, Nordic melancholy, and Americana blend into a sound entirely her own.

In 2026 she returns with a long-awaited comeback album - the first since the critically acclaimed ‘Feet First’ (2015).
