The band was formed by Aaron Collis and Mark Manning, two musicians with deep roots in the local folk music tradition. With respect for the roots and courage to renew them, Rum Ragged have rapidly made their mark among the strongest voices in the new wave of Canadian folk music.
Playing bouzouki, violin, bodhrán, banjo, guitar and accordion, Rum Ragged make lively and powerful music. Since the outset in 2016, the band has toured a lot and released four well-received albums, cementing their position as leading lights in East coast Canadian music. And in 2021 they were nominated for a JUNO Award, Canada's most prestigious music prize.
