100 lucky Lanois fans can secure tickets to a rare musical experience with the legendary Canadian musician and producer – completely free of charge.
Canadian musician and producer Daniel Lanois takes the stage on Thursday 27 August 2026 as one of the headline acts at this year's Tønder Festival. The day before, he is exclusively inviting 100 people to the rehearsal for the concert at Schweizerhalle in Tønder – a unique opportunity to experience the legendary musician in an unusually intimate setting.
Admission is free, and tickets will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis from Thursday 20 August at 4pm.
’A wild stroke of luck’
Daniel Lanois' distinctive sound has inspired generations of musicians and left its mark on rock, folk and ambient music for decades. According to Tønder Festival's artistic director, Maria Theessink, this is a truly unique opportunity to experience a legend up close:
“This is one of those wild strokes of luck that occasionally come Tønder Festival's way. Daniel Lanois is an artist who is deeply devoted to the music, to the audience, and to the singular sense of presence that arises when musicians play together. The fact that he has chosen to invite 100 people in for the rehearsal the day before his big performance is a gift you don't want to miss.”
A world-class back catalogue
Alongside his own musical career, Daniel Lanois has produced for some of the biggest names in music history: Bob Dylan, Neil Young, U2, Peter Gabriel and Emmylou Harris. The latter is a headline act at this year's Tønder Festival, which makes Lanois' visit an especially powerful musical moment.
The dress rehearsal at Schweizerhalle will be a rare opportunity to experience Lanois in a format where his music and presence take centre stage, completely undisturbed. Audiences can expect a musical experience that brings them close to both the artist and the distinctive world that has made him one of the most influential figures in modern music production.
