Heroes of Nature Take Over the Family Universe
Student educators from UC SYD are back at Tønder Festival with creative workshops, recycled materials and hands-on activities for children and families – this year under the theme Heroes of Nature.
The Family Universe returns to Tønder Festival with sustainable activities, creative workshops and plenty of festival fun for children and parents alike – this year under the theme Heroes of Nature
Tønder Festival and the Early Childhood Education Programme at UC SYD in Tønder are joining forces once again, and the result is a Family Universe brimming with life, creativity and activities for young and old.
This year's theme is Heroes of Nature, and it runs through everything – from materials to activities. All materials are recycled, with sustainability at the heart of every corner of the universe, very much in the spirit of TF's hand made ethos.
Familiar games with a creative twist
The activities have been developed with an innovative approach, taking well-known games and activities as a starting point – but with a twist. Here, children are invited to unleash their own creativity and immerse themselves in the task at hand. It is an invitation to slow down, feel the process and create something with their own hands – exactly the kind of experience TF has always championed.
Children aged 0–12 can look forward to, among other things:
🦸 Superhero cape workshop – design your very own hero cape
♻️ Waste sorting throwing game – play and learn about recycling
🎣 Make your own fishing rod – and much, much more
Tried and tested by local children
To make sure all activities hit the mark, children from local institutions in Tønder have already visited UC SYD for a preview. Activities have been fine-tuned and adjusted, so festival guests will be met by a universe that is ready to welcome children and families with open arms.
A total of 17 students from the Early Childhood Education Programme will be on hand to guide and inspire in the Family Universe.
Family time with space to explore
You will find the Family Universe in the Castle Ruin at the top of the Open Air hill, open Friday and Saturday from 11.00–17.00.
One important thing to keep in mind: the Family Universe is not a childcare facility, and children must at all times be accompanied by an adult from their own family. But then again, that is the whole point – this is an invitation to experience the festival together. Find a good spot, let the children lose themselves in the activities, and enjoy the music while you are there. Festival for the whole family.
