Top British Band Retires at Tønder Festival
The kings of British folk rock, Oysterband, bid their farewells as a live band with an extensive tour, culminating in a final concert at Tønder Festival 2025.
In collaboration with the local company Brødrene Hartmann A/S, Tønder Festival is taking another step towards increased sustainability.
Starting with Tønder Festival 2024, all cardboard waste generated at the festival will be collected and delivered directly to Hartmann in Tønder, where it will be recycled into specially designed egg cartons for Tønder Festival’s "solæg" (sun eggs). This initiative supports Tønder Festival’s ongoing efforts to minimize waste and promote the reuse of materials after the festival.
Already this year, the egg cartons will be used to serve the local delicacy, solæg, which is one of the festival’s most beloved and traditional dishes.
Solæg is a unique South Jutland specialty, consisting of hard-boiled eggs that are hollowed out after being soaked in brine and typically filled with mustard, oil, vinegar, and Tabasco – a distinctive taste experience that has been a staple of Tønder Festival for many years.
Tønder Festival would like to extend a special thanks to Brødrene Hartmann Tønder for their dedication and support, not only to the festival but also to the local community. Their partnership is crucial to the festival’s continued sustainability efforts.
