Diversity is Key at Tønder Festival

26. April 2024

Bluegrass, jamgrass, americana, rock, electrofolk, Polish folk music and topnotch songwriting: seven names are added to Tønder Festival's 2024 programme, demonstrating that this festival offers highlights you'll find nowhere else.
The musicians' roster for this year's Tønder Festival is almost complete. However, more surprises are still being found. Earlier this month, we announced American star Rickie Lee Jones, and now seven further artists can be revealed: musicians and songwriters from USA, Canada, Scotland, Poland and Danmark adorn the programme, further evidence that Tønder Festival is where you can enjoy unique musical experiences close up.
Great Songs, Bluegrass and Improvisation
From USA we have three names: songwriter Katie Pruitt, who garnered five-star reviews at Tønder Festival 2022, is back this year. As is Leftover Salmon, the 35 year-old pioneer band who purvey jamgrass, the style that melds bluegrass, country and cajun with improvisation. Then we have the True Heart Troubadours, uniting two potent duos including well-known top songwriters: Tim O’Brien with Jan Fabricius and Mary Gauthier with Jaimee Harris.
Multitalents, Heavy Beats, Rock and a Very Long Bike
The Canadian songwriter Kellie Loder is an artist on the way up, at Tønder Festival for the first time. From Scotland come the famous Peatbog Faeries playing an energetic and danceable mix of folk, rock and electronica. Danish Sebastian Wolff, known as the singer and frontman in the rock band Kellermensch, performs new songs with his own band. Another first is the six piece Polish band Big Bike Orchestra, whose particular stunt is performing on a specially-built six person bicycle.
